Let the Festivities Begin

Friday Night

We will be starting off the weekend with a traditional South African braai. This is a great way for our guests to get to know each other before the wedding day. This event is not just for those who will be staying over, but for anyone who would like to join. We encourage everyone to be part of this pre-wedding celebration for a chilled, no-rush, no-fuss dinner together, without all the traditional wedding day schedules that steal our time with the guests.

All you need to do is dress up and show up! Parts of the evening will be documented to form a part of our wedding video, so we kindly ask our participants to please dress accordingly. What is “accordingly”? Ladies and gentlemen, no jeans allowed. The dress code is semi-formal with a touch of old money.

The braai will be at the Nooitgedacht Wedding Venue Courtyard. Guests need to arrive between 17h30 and 18h00

The Big Day

Guests need to arrive at the venue from 14h30. The ceremony will start strictly at 15h00. There will be someone at the venue to guide you to where the ceremony will be held.

We strongly advise arriving at the venue at least 30 minutes prior to the ceremony so you can grab a refreshment, maybe visit the loo, and get to your seat. Please make sure your phones are on silent, and most importantly, try to be present and not view the event through your phone’s lens.

If you do run late for any reason, please make contact with someone at the venue to avoid delaying the event.

Dress

Code

Black-Tie

The Black Tie Old Money dress code is the epitome of timeless elegance, sophistication, and understated luxury. Rooted in classic tailoring, premium fabrics, and a restrained color palette, this style favors quality over trends, embracing heritage fashion with a modern touch.

The key to achieving the Old Money Black Tie look is a commitment to refinement, impeccable tailoring, and an air of effortless confidence. Quiet luxury speaks volumes.

Ladies

This is your time to shine, we encourage you to go all out and wear that dress you have always wanted. Please also make sure that you bring your dancing shoes to ensure you will be having a good time. The reception will be inside but it being end of winter season it does still get cold at night.

  • Evening Gowns: Floor-length gowns in luxurious fabrics like silk, satin, or velvet. Minimalist designs with elegant draping or subtle embellishments.

  • Necklines & Silhouettes: Classic cuts such as off-the-shoulder, bateau, or sweetheart necklines. Silhouettes should be refined—A-line, sheath, or column gowns exude grace.

  • Accessories: Fine jewelry (pearls, diamonds, or gold pieces), a structured clutch, and delicate gloves for added refinement.

  • Shoes: Classic pumps or strappy heels in neutral tones.

  • Hair & Makeup: Polished hairstyles like chignons or soft waves; makeup should be elegant and natural with a bold red lip or soft neutral tones.

  • Tuxedo: A well-tailored black tuxedo with peak or shawl lapels in silk or velvet. Midnight blue is also acceptable.

  • Shirt & Bow Tie: A crisp white pleated or plain-front dress shirt with a black bow tie (self-tied).

  • Shoes: Polished black patent leather Oxford shoes.

  • Accessories: A subtle pocket square, cufflinks (gold, silver, or mother-of-pearl), and a classic wristwatch. A well-fitted overcoat or cashmere scarf for colder seasons.
